Bushaho Gorilla Family in Nkuringo Sector Bwindi

Bushaho Gorilla Family is a gorilla trekking family in Nkuringo Sector in the south of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Bushaho and Bikingi gorilla family in Rushaga were habituated concurrently and launched for gorilla trekking at the same time. Bushaho gorilla group has 9 members and the number is expected to surge as a result of new-born babies plus conservation efforts. Bushaho together with Bikingi family in Rushaga sector are the two gorilla groups in Bwindi set aside for gorilla habituation experience in Uganda. A permit for habituation experience is at USD 1500. With this experience, a group of 4 visitors maximum is allowed to tour the family and four hours the maximum time duration travelers stay with the gorillas.

Bushaho group is headed by Bahati, a dominant Silverback Bahati. When many gorillas left Nkuringo group, an operation looking for their whereabouts was initiated in 2012. It was found out that Bahati, formerly a silbervack under Nkuringo group that disappeared was now the head of parallel group. It was also confirmed that some of the indiviudals in Bushaho family formerly belonged to Nkuringo family.  The monitoring team of trekkers obesreved the conduct of the memebrs of the parallel group. This family was later habituated and given the name Bushaho. Bushaho is a place where the group forages most. Bushaho The group has 11 members composed of 1 Silverback, 1 blackback, 4 adult females plus 2 semi adult females and 3 infants.

When guests visit the endangered gorillas through our safaris and tours, the attention to save the primates is drawn further to all the stakeholders. Our safaris involve booking gorila permits, arrangeing transprot (road and air) plus booking accommodations as well as selecting the most prefered actvities besides gorilla tracking when needed.  Our safaris go to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga in Uganda plus Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda and the Virunga in Congo.
