Bweza Gorilla Group in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Bweza Gorilla Group is found in Rushaga sector, south of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The group has 7 members including 1 silverback plus 2 infants. Bweza family started with Nshongi family which was the biggest Mountain Gorilla family at that time in the whole of Bwindi. Nshongi later split into other families due to misunderstandings amongst its members. In 2013, there were much bickering in Nshongi group which prompted Bweza, a silverback break away from the group. It was assumed that the family would reunite but all has been in vain.

The park staffs hoped that the family would reunite at some time in the future but wasn’t the case. Due to failure to unite again, the group was opened in 2012 for trekking purpose. In the whole of Bwindi Impenetrable National park, Bweza is one of the most pleasing family to visit.
