Chimpanzee tracking Rwanda is done Nyungwe Forest National Park found in the far south of the country. Rwenzori Colubus Monkeys can be found here in swarms of hundreds. Also commonly visible during trekking are l’Hoest’s monkeys that are often seen walking along the roadside as you drive through the forest.

Nyungwe Forest Hiking Trails
Over time, about 130 kilometers of walking routes have been put up in Nyungwe Forest National Park, enabling tourists to enjoy and adventure its greenish interior plus the exhilarating wildlife habitats. Trailing in Nyungwe forest is ideally captivating, with routes lasting between one to eight hours. The fantastically known Igishigishigi Trail is among the most short-lasting hikes but on the other hand includes East Africa’s tallest canopy walk with magnificent sights and sounds of Nyungwe Forest. Whereas the 6-hour Bigugu Trail takes you to the longest mountain in the Park at 2950 meters above sea level.

Birding in Nyungwe Forest
Birds in Nyungwe Forest National Park are amazingly fantastic. The forest boasts of about 310 bird species that reside into but very rare in other most tropical forests. The great blue turacos, giant horn bills and red-breasted sparrowhawks are among the most common residents of the forest. Among these bird species, 27 species are endemic to this Albertine Rift Valley portion.
