Golden Monkey Trekking at the Volcanoes National Park. Besides Mountain gorillas, Volcanoes National Park is a habitat for Golden Monkeys (Cercopithecus Mitis Kandti) in Rwanda. Cercopithecus Mitis Kandti is a local subspecies of the common Sykes Monkey, also named as the “Blue Monkey” and commonly lives in the high altitude forests of the Volcanoes National Park. Visitors leave for the Golden Monkey trekking from the Park’s Head offices at Kinigi at 07:00 am. The monkey permits can be booked through a tour operator in the morning of the trekking circuit.
