Take 2 days gorilla trekking in Congo, another habitat to mountain gorillas in Africa. The country has got both Lowland and Mountain Gorillas.  Mountain gorillas in DR Congo are found in Virunga National Park found in the eastern side of the country. Gorilla Trekking safaris in Congo are becoming prevalent globally! Congo is safe and accessible by all Intercontinental tourists. On this gorilla trek, you will go trekking in the Virunga national park. This 2 days gorilla trekking safari will commence in Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda from where you will move to the Virunga National park in Democratic Republic of Congo going through Cyanika border post. Virunga park has got five gorilla families with three groups being the most trekked.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Kisoro, a border town in Uganda

You will be picked by our driver guide and drive to Kisoro on the side of Uganda. This excursion will take you through a beautiful outlook of Rwanda’s gently sloping hills going through Ruhengeri in the northern part of Rwanda and carrying on to Cyanika border. After crossing the border into Uganda, you may have some guided nature walks. Have dinner and enjoy an overnight stay at Travelers’ Rest Hotel or Kisoro Tourist Hotel.

Day 2: Gorilla Tracking in the Virunga National Park

Early morning, cross over to Congo via the Bunagana border point, drive straight to the Park Head office and get briefed about gorilla trekking guidelines and rules before walking into the forest to trek mountain gorillas in the Parc National des Virunga, which is a fantastic African wild experience. As you search for the Mountain Gorillas, you will enjoy some outstanding bird and primates watching like the Blue Monkeys, Golden Monkeys, White and Black colobus monkey plus the giant forest hogs among the many.

For one hour, you will stay with the attractive primates as you observe closely and photograph them. Tracking Gorillas through the jungle, peaks and swamp lands may be tough, tiring and strenuous, occasionally lasting up to 8 hours in the rain forest. Putting the challenge aside, when you come face to face with the famous apes is outstandingly worth the energy. Later in the day, you will return to Kisoro in Uganda, have food and drinks at the hotel followed by a transfer to Kigali in Rwanda when you will reach in the evening. You will either have another overnight stay or take a departure flight to the next destination.  End of the safari.
