3 Day Congo Gorilla Trekking, Virunga National Park, Gorilla Tour Congo

The 3 day Congo Gorilla Trekking safari commences in Kigali Rwanda. You will transfer to Virunga National Park in the DR Congo passing through Uganda’s Cyanika boarder post. Virunga Park has got five groups of mountain gorillas out of which three families are trekked most.

Complete Trip Itinerary

Day 1: From Kigali, transfer to Kisoro town in Uganda

You will be picked by the tour driver guide and transfer to Kisoro border town at the Uganda side. This drive will take you via a charming view of the good-looking rolling hills of Rwanda. You will go through Ruhengeri, the Northern Province of Rwanda as you continue to Cyanika boarder. Having worked on the border-crossing process into Uganda, you may take a guided nature walk or tour the fine-looking Lake Mutanda and have a walk on its shores. This water body is surrounded by volcanoes. Retreat to the hotel in the evening. Have dinner and an overnight at Kisoro Tourist Hotel or Travelers Rest Hotel.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Parc Nationale Des Virunga (Virunga National Park)

In the morning, transfer to Bunagana, a Uganda-DR Congo border point and cross to the Park Headquarters to get briefed on the gorilla trekking dos and don’ts. You will then after set off for the forest to do gorilla tracking in the Virunga National Park, which is indeed an incredible safari experience.  While looking for gorillas in the forest, look out for amazing bird and primate species like the Black and White colobus monkey, Blue Monkeys, Golden Monkeys plus the giant forest hogs to mention. On meeting the gorillas, one hour is the officially permitted time duration for tourists to be in the midst of the beautiful gorillas. In these sixty minutes, you are free to observe critically the giant primates and you take their pictures as well. Gorilla tracking in the thick rain forest may appear rough, demanding and exhausting, at times lasting 8 hours in the woodland, but facing the great primates is a rare opportunity worth hiking for. Later on, return to Kisoro town in Uganda; enjoy dinner followed by a comfortable overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 3: Transfer back to Kigali.

Having enjoyed a relaxed breakfast, leave for Kigali in Rwanda. As transfer back to Kigali, you may make numerous stops to appreciate and photograph the astounding scenery of the country hilly landscape. Arrive in Kigali in the mid-afternoon for your departure flight to the next destination in case flying is on schedule. End of the Tour.
