Full Gorilla Safari Itinerary
Day 1: From Kigali you will transfer to Volcanoes National Park
On your arrival in Rwanda, you will be picked from Kigali International airport by our company driver guide who will drive you around Kigali for a city tour. Or else, if you are already in Kigali, after breakfast at your hotel, you will be picked by our company representative who will take you for a city tour, you will get to visit the Genocide memorial center. You will have lunch and later drive to Volcanoes national park, the place mountain gorillas in Rwanda are found. This journey takes around 2 hours. Check in at the lodge where you will have dinner and overnight stay.
Volcanoes National park lies in northwestern Rwanda. The park, being the home of mountain gorillas well known for its gorilla trekking safaris. This large park is where the five of the eight volcanoes of the Virunga Mountains (Karisimbi, Bisoke, Muhabura, Gahinga and Sabyinyo), which are covered in rain forest and bamboo are found. In this park, it’s where you can also enjoy golden monkey tracking and the amazing hiking to Dian Fossey grave site.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking Safari and drive to Lake Kivu
An early morning wake up call, prepare and have breakfast. With parked lunch you will go to the park headquarters for a briefing and later begin the trek with the guidance of the park rangers. The adventure of tracking the gorillas, May take 1-8 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. You will stay with the gorillas for a maximum of one hour. Depending on how long you have taken to get to the gorillas, you will sit with in the forest and enjoy your packed lunch. Later you will drive to Lake Kivu and get to relax at the beach. Dinner and overnight stay will be as above
Day 3: Boat Ride -transfer to Kigali – Departure
After breakfast you will go for a boat ride on Lake Kivu and later you will return to the lodge check out and then drive from Lake Kivu, takes about 2 hours to Kigali. Have lunch in Kigali upon arrival. Later you will be transferred to the airport for your departure flight.
