Day 1: Leave Kampala for Queen Elizabeth National Park

Have an early morning breakfast and set off on your Uganda safari to Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will go through Mpigi (Stop at the Uganda Equator for photo shots), Uganda Equator is an imaginary point where the Northern Hemisphere separates from the Southern Hemisphere, and it’s a tourist spot for photo taking and handicraft shopping. At the Uganda Equator you will see a line drawn in the middle of the monument. And with a monument on both sides that state “Uganda Equator”.

It is an extremely an amazing feeling to be on both sides of the world. Other than the fact that you can stand on both sides of the Equator there is also the chance to see a conduct test of how water drains straight down at the Equator. But the water will consume clockwise on the northern hemisphere and counter clockwise on the southern hemisphere. This is something very special to see. There are also shops at the Equator where you can buy souvenirs to show off your adventure to your friends and family. Proceed with the journey through Masaka, Lyantonde and stop in Mbarara Town for lunch after which you will proceed with the journey to the park where you arrive in the evening.

Queen Elizabeth National Park is one of the most splendid treasures of Uganda and named after UK’s Queen Elizabeth II when she visited Uganda in 1954. As you get into the park you will be able to see the escapements of Rwenzori Mountain Crater Lakes, rift valley and spot some animals on the road side.
