Gorilla Tracking Safari Congo – Lowland Gorillas in Kahuzi Biega National Park

In Congo, Lowland Gorillas live in Kahuzi Biega National Park whereas the gravely endangered mountain gorillas dwell in Virunga National Park. Mountain gorillas are the most visited specie than other gorilla species.

Full Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali – Rwanda.

Arrive at the airport, get picked up and transfer to a Hotel in Kigali. In case an early arrival, you may take an optional tour of Kigali, one of the fastest growing cities in Africa. Take your overnight and dinner at Hotel Des Mille Collines.

Day 2: Transfer to Bukavu in DR Congo.

You will be picked by the driver guide in the morning from your hotel and drive southwards to Cyangugu near the Rwanda boarder enroute Bukavu in Congo. You will have a pause at Butare to visit the king’s palace in Nyanza, the national museum of Rwanda and some genocide memorial sites. After enjoying lunch, proceed with a scenic trip to Bukavu characterized by wonderful views of the hills through the humid jungle of Nyungwe National Park and a pure sight of Lake Kivu. Enjoy dinner and overnight at Coco Lodge (Luxury), Orchid Safari Lodge (Mid-Range) or Hotel Horizon (Budget).

Day 3: Lowland Gorilla trekking in Kahuzi Biega in Democratic Republic Congo

Early morning after breakfast, you will go for a remarkable undertaking of lowland gorilla tracking in Kahuzi Biega National Park. Tracking lowland Gorillas is very wonderful adventure. Lowland Gorillas are different from mountain gorillas.  The lowland gorillas are larger in size and usually it takes between 1 to 4 hours pursuing the lowland Gorillas. Lowland Gorillas stay in bigger groups as equated to mountain gorillas. You will have no regret for the safari energy, the moment you meet the astounding Gorillas. Having done trekking, you may go for a cool nature walk in Kahuzi Biega Park and also take a tour of Tshibati waterfalls, visit the town of Bukavu, Mbayo tea plantations, the research center plus the adjacent traditional households. Later in the day, go back to the hotel for your dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Drive back to Kigali

At sunrise, take a peaceful breakfast and drive back to Kigali passing through Cyangugu border. Arrive in Kigali in the afternoon and fly out.  The Lowland Congo Gorilla Safari Ends.
