A brief about Murchison Falls National Park

Murchison Falls National Park is Uganda’s biggest national park measuring about 3,840 square kilometers (1,480 sq mi). The park is part of the 5,308 square kilometers (2,049 sq mi) Murchison Falls Conservation Area (MFCA). Murchison Falls National Park is located in Masindi District in western Uganda and in Amuru in northern Uganda. The park is a habitat to the large African wild animals including: Water buffalo, elephant, Crocodile, Lion, Leopard, Hippopotamus, Antelope, Giraffes, Uganda Kob, Oribi and other animals. The Nile River, within the park, is a home of variety of water birds, including the unusual Shoe bill stork.

Detailed Murchison Falls Safari

Day 1: Arrive in Uganda

On your arrival, a driver guide will pick you from the airport to Kampala for dinner and overnight at Cassia Lodge, Holiday Express Hotel or Sheraton Hotel Kampala.

Day 2: Drive to Murchison Falls National Park, Track Rhinos enroute

After breakfast in Kampala, start your trip to Murchison Falls National Park, along the way in Nakasongola District, you will visit the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for Rhino tracking. You will spend 2 hours trekking rhinos and also have lunch at a canteen at this rhino hub before continuing with journey through Masindi up to the park as you view the green countryside. Arrive at the park in the evening. Overnight at Sambiya River Lodge, Murchison River Lodge or Paraa Safari Lodge (Full Board)

Day 3: Game Viewing and Launch Cruise

After breakfast, set of for an early morning game drive during which you will spot animals like the jackals, hartebeests, oribi, bushbucks, bohor reed bucks, hyenas, giraffes, lions, antelopes, elephants and the Uganda kob among the many. You will rest from the game drive for anything to eat and later on lunch at the lodge. The afternoon time will be for an open launch cruise (Boat ride on the calm Nile). The boat trip will take you to the bottom of the falls where animals like the buffaloes, hippos, crocodiles, elephants and plenty of water birds like the herons, cormorants, ducks, bee-eaters, kingfishers, skimmers, fish eagles, the rare shoebill and many more species can be viewed from the peaceful sailing boat. The base of the falls is also an awe-inspiring moment. Overnight at Sambiya River Lodge, Murchison River Lodge or Paraa Safari Lodge (Full Board)

Day 4: Chimps tracking in Budongo Forest, drive back to Kampala

Take breakfast in the morning, start a 1-hour drive to Budongo Forest, the territory for chimpanzees. Upon arrival, you will get briefing from a forest guide followed the commencement of Chimpanzee Tracking in the Forest. A three to four hour experience, spending one hour with the chimps is extremely marvelous. Budongo Forest is a part of the vast Murchison Falls is home to some 600-700 chimpanzees.

Budongo is a beautiful and attractive forest with Mahogany Trees, countless butterflies, birds plus 9 different primate species recorded. You will find the most revitalizing experience in the calmness of Budongo Forest. After chimps tracking, drive back to Kampala, lunch enroute and arrive in the evening. The driver will transfer you to your accommodation in Kampala. Overnight at Cassia Lodge, Holiday Express Hotel or Sheraton Hotel Kampala.

Day 5: Airport transfer

a few hours to your flight, the driver will transfer you to the airport to take your departure flight. End of the Uganda holiday tour.
