Rwanda chimpanzee tracking, Wildlife and Gorilla Tracking Highlights: The places you will explore during this safari include; Akagera National Park, Kigali City, Nyungwe Forest National Park, Gisenyi, Kibuye and the Volcanoes National Park where gorillas in Rwanda are found.
Day 1: Arrive in Kigali, transfer Akagera National Park
When you fly into Kigali, our driver guide will pick you from Kigali International airport and transfer you to Akagera National Park found in the eastern part of the country near the Tanzanian boarder.
Day 2: Game drive in Akagera National Park, return to Kigali for overnight
Before breakfast, take an early morning game drive in the Akagera National Park, one of the most interesting wildlife parks in Africa. It’s famous for its herds of game animals including lions, Elephants, Topi, over 430 species of birds including the shoe bill stork and the African Jacana. In the afternoon, drive to Kigali for dinner and overnight at Kigali Serena Hotel/ Hotel Des Mille Collines/ Hotel Gorillas.
Day 3: Rwanda Cultural Tour, transfer to Nyungwe Forest
After breakfast, drive to Nyanza for a visit to the Rwanda King’s Palace (Mwami’s). A traditional story teller is available to narrate for you the prowess of the pre-colonial kingdom. Drive to a place called Butare for a tour of the National Museum. Then proceed to Gikongoro for a tour of the Genocide Memorials of Murambi. Continue to Nyungwe National Park where you will arrive in the evening. Overnight at Gisakura Guest House, Nyungwe Top view Lodge or Nyungwe Forest Lodge.
Day 4: Rwanda chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe National Park
Early in the morning enter Nyungwe in search for chimpanzee and thereafter return to your hotel for lunch. In the afternoon after lunch, you wll go for a nature tour of the forest. While there, you will do Canopy walk and return to the lodge in the evening for overnight take a drive or a boat ride to Gisenyi on Lake Kivu arriving late in the evening. Overnight at Gisakura Guest House, Nyungwe Top view Lodge or Nyungwe Forest Lodge.
Day 5: Drive to Lake Kivu, take a boat ride
In the morning after breakfast, drive to Lake Kivu, arrive in the afternoon. After Lunch at the lodge, you will go for a boat cruise on the nice waters of the lake. Dinner and overnight stay at Stipp Hotel Gisenyi, Kivu Sun Hotel or Lake Kivu Serena Hotel .
Day 6: Lake Kivu Beach Tour, transfer to Ruhengeri
Spend the morning in Gisenyi relaxing at the beaches. In the Afternoon, drive to Ruhengeri. Overnight at Muhabura Hotel, La Palme Hotel or Mountain Gorilla View Lodge.
Day 7: Gorilla Trekking in Rwanda
Early morning departure for the mountain gorilla tracking tour. After the briefing from the authorities of the park, set off for the trekking into the rain tropical forest searching for the habituated mountain gorillas in Rwanda. You remain close to the beautiful primates for one hour, for observation and photography. After gorilla trekking, return to the lodge for warm lunch and enjoy a restful evening. Dinner and over night at at Muhabura Hotel, La Palme Hotel or Mountain Gorilla View Lodge.
Day 8: Drive back to Kigali, take your flight
In the morning after your breakfast, you will start the journey back to Kigali where you will be dropped to the air port for your next flight.
