15 Days Uganda Rwanda Safaris

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe, Transfer to Kampala

Today you will be picked from the Entebbe International and be transferred to Kampala where you will have dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Transfer to Uganda, Queen Elizabeth National Park

In the morning, drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Make a stop at the equator where you will take photographs, proceed to Igongo cultural centre where you will have lunch and get to visit the museum. Later proceed to the park, check in at the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Queen Elizabeth National Park is one of Uganda’s highly visited national parks. It is a home to various animals like hippos, warthogs, elephants and over buffaloes, waterbuck, Uganda kob and topi plus sitatunga antelope, lions, leopards, civet, genal and serval cats . Primate species include chimpanzees, Vervet and black-and-white colobus monkeys and Baboons and many others. The park is also a habitat for over 600 bird species.

Day 3: Game drive in Kasenyi sector and Kazinga Channel boat ride
Early morning after breakfast, drive to the Kasenyi sector where you will go for a game drive in the park and see lions, elephants, buffaloes, Kobs, water bucks, bush-bucks, warthogs and leopard. Return to the lodge for lunch and have a boat ride along the Kazinga Channel where you might spot hippos and buffalo in the shallow waters at close range from the boat. Kazinga Channel is a home to many birds which include the pink pelicans, fish eagles, pied and kingfishers among others. Dinner and overnight at the lodge

Day 4: Ishasha Sector, spot tree Climbing Lions

After breakfast you will drive to the Ishasha sector. You will have a game drive in Ishasha sector. This area is well known for its tree climbing lions. You will have dinner and overnight in the Ishasha Sector. Overnight at the Isasha Lodge

Day 5: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Have breakfast and drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Bwindi National Park is the best home for the Mountain Gorillas. Bwindi national park is the third largest forested park in Uganda. It’s a home to the famous mountain gorillas, but also a home to about 120 species of mammals and 360 species of birds and various animals that live in this forest like the Elephants and various primates. There are various gorilla group families in Bwindi national park and in the various sections of Bwindi gorilla tracking can be done in any of the sections. Bwindi national park can be accessed by air and by road. Have dinner and overnight at the lodge

Day 6: Gorilla Trekking Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Today is a day set aside to see the most amazing Apes which are closely related to Humans. After breakfast you will go to the park head quarters for registration and briefing by one of the ranger guides. You will then begin the trek in search for the Mountain Gorillas. This could take 1 to 9 hours. When you get to the gorillas you will spend only 1 hour with them. The park also provides habitat for some 120 species of mammals, and about 360 species of birds’ Rusty-faced woodland Warbler, Bar-tailed Trogon, Gruer’s Rush Warbler, Wilcock’s Honey-guide, Yellow-eyed black Fly-catcher, Kivu Ground Thrush, Dusky Crimsonwing, among others. Relax the rest of the afternoon or you will do a community walk. Dinner and overnight as above

Day 7: From Uganda to Rwanda- Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast at your hotel, you will be picked by our company representative who will drive you to Rwanda, after crossing the border proceed to Volcanoes National Park Volcanoes National park lies in northwestern Rwanda. The park is well known for its gorilla tracking and being the home of mountain gorillas. It is also home to five of the eight volcanoes of the Virunga Mountains (Karisimbi, Bisoke, Muhabura, Gahinga and Sabyinyo), which are covered in rainforest and bamboo. In Nyungwe National Park, one can do golden monkey tracking and Dianne Fossey grave visit.

Day 8: Gorilla Tracking adventure

An early morning wake up call, prepare and have breakfast. With parked lunch you will go to the park headquarters for a briefing and later begin the trek with the guidance of the park rangers. The adventure of tracking the gorillas, May take 1-8 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. You will stay with the gorillas for a maximum of one hour. Depending on how long you have taken to get to the gorillas, you will sit with in the forest and enjoy your packed lunch. Later you will visit the twin lakes in the evening to relax, or you stay at the lodge to relax after the long day. Dinner and overnight stay will be as above

Day 9: Golden Monkey tracking -transfer to Lake Kivu

After breakfast you will go for Golden monkey tracking. After tracking you will return to the lodge have lunch and check out and then drive from Volcanoes National Park to Lake Kivu and get to relax at the beach. Dinner and overnight stay will be as above

Day 10: Boat Ride -transfer to Butare – Nyungwe Forest

After breakfast you will go for a boat ride on Lake Kivu and later you will return to the lodge check out and then drive from Lake Kivu, takes about 2 hours to Kigali. Have lunch in Butare. Later you will proceed to Nyungwe Forest. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge

Day 11: Chimpanzee tracking and Forest Walk

You will have breakfast early in the morning; later go to the park headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing in the company of the game rangers you will go for Chimpanzee trekking. You will expect to see other primates like Angolan colobus monkeys, golden monkeys, Red tailed and blue monkeys among others. The trek takes about 3-5 hours. After the trek you will go for lunch and then relax for a few hours. In the evening you will go for a guided nature walk in the forest. This is also a good time for birders to enjoy the tour. The Forest is a home to various bird species like the black and white casqued horn bill and the Rwenzori Turacco among others. You will later return to the lodge where you will have dinner and overnight stay.

Day 12: Transfer to Kigali

After breakfast you will drive from Nyungwe Forest which takes about 6-7 hours. Have lunch in Kigali upon arrival. Relax the rest of the afternoon. Dinner and overnight at the lodge

Day 13: Kigali to Akagera National Park

After breakfast at your hotel, you will be picked by our company representative who will drive you to Akagera national park which takes about 2.5 hours, check in at the lodge where you will have dinner and overnight stay. Akagera National Park borders with Tanzania in the East. The vegetation with in this park is mainly savannah, mountain and swamp. It’s a home to various animals and birds, and a very big lake called Lake Ihema.

Day 14: Game drive and Boat Ride
Wake up early, take breakfast and later go for a game drive. You might spot animals like elephants, buffaloes, lions, Masai giraffe, gazelles, impala, baboons, oribi, zebra, topi, bush baby, leopard and bush buck while on the game drive. You will later go to the lodge, have lunch and after go for an afternoon boat ride on Lake Ihema. While doing a boat ride you will spot animals like hippos, crocodiles, and birds like the Shoe billed stork, herons, papyrus gonolek, ibis, sandpipers and jacanas among others. Have dinner and overnight at the lodge

Day 15: Drive back to Rwanda – Departure

After breakfast you will drive back to Kigali, have lunch and later proceed to the airport for your departure flight
