9 Days Chimp Safari, Wildlife & Gorilla Trekking Uganda

During this Chimp safari, wildlife and gorilla tracking trip, you will enjoy primates and safaris at large. Expect to visit Kibale National Park, for chimpanzee trekking and nature walk, Queen Elizabeth National park for game drive and boat cruise on Kazinga Channel and a visit to Bwindi Impenetrable forest the home of Mountain gorillas for an amazing gorilla trekking encounter in Uganda.

Day 1: Arrive at Entebbe International Airport

Arrive at Entebbe Airport, picked by our drive, transfer to Kampala for overnight at The Kampala Lodge Hotel, Cassia Lodge or Speke Hotel (full board)

Day 2: Travel to Kibale National Park

In the morning, the driver picks you up from Kampala for Kibale Forest National Park. Kibale is known as a famous habitat for chimpanzees which are believed to be the closest relatives of man. Overnight and dinner at Kibale Forest Camp or chimps Nest (Full Board)

Day 3: Enjoy Chimpanzee Safari in Kibale Forest plus Bigodi Swamp Walk

After breakfast in the morning, move to the park head office for briefing about the exercise before heading through the forest to search for chimpanzees. You will come close to chimps and other primates like the red tailed monkeys, colobus monkeys and many more. The trek will give you an opportunity to observe a wide range of primates, Birds and Butterflies through a network of dappled jungle trail.

In the afternoon you will go for a nature walk in the Bigodi Swamp. The swamp is congregation hub to over 200 bird species, including the most well-liked bird for tourists, the Corythaeola Cristata (Great Blue Turaco). Managed by the Kibale Association for Rural and Environmental Development (Kafred), the Bigodi marsh benefits a lot from the Kibale National Park for the reason that there are some primates including chimpanzees which now and then visit, making them part of the animal-stock that tourists come to see in Bigodi. Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park, do an afternoon Boat Ride on Kazinga Channel.

In the morning after breakfast, drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. On you drive, look keenly for the wild game which makes this park a superb safari hub. Queen Elizabeth National Park is one of the most excellent treasures of Uganda and named after UK’s Queen Elizabeth II when she visited Uganda in 1954. As you get into the park you will be able to see the escapements of Rwenzori Mountain Crater Lakes, rift valley and spot some animals on the road side. Over 95 species of mammals and 600 species of birds have been recorded at this vast park. In the afternoon, go for launch cruise on the Kazinga Channel.

Kazinga channel found in Queen Elizabeth National Park is a 40 km water channel that joins Lakes George and Edward. Any tourist to this park cannot fail to be impressed by the Channel’s astonishing variety. It’s where many buffaloes rest in the water while big herds of elephants and different bird species can be seen enjoying themselves along the channel shores. A majority of visitors who participate in the 2 hour launch cruise along the channel regard it as the highlight of their African safari. There are also concentrations of hippos and birds. In short, this water cruise offers an excellent platform for clear photography, extensive bird-watching and an all-embracing game viewing. Take an overnight at Enganzi Lodge, Ihamba Safari Lodge or Mweya Safari Lodge (Full Board)

Day 5: Game Drive Safari in the Park, Visit the Crater Lakes and More Game Viewing.

On this day, you will wake up early enough, take your breakfast and then set off for a morning game drive, during which you will have an opportunity to spot hippos, elephants, spotted hyenas, lions, leopards, stripped jackals, bushbucks, water bucks and warthogs and many wild animals. Retire from the game drive late morning and go back to the lodge for a rest as you admire nature. After the game drive, you will return to the lodge and take arrest. After lunch, visit the Crater Lake or Katwe salt lake as see how local communities survive by mining salt. You can also have more game drive in the park to spot more animals that you might have missed in the morning. Take an overnight at Enganzi Lodge, Ihamba Safari Lodge or Mweya Safari Lodge (Full Board)

Day 6: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Drive to Bwindi National Park where you will reach after 4 hours. The afternoon is available for a relaxation. Overnight stay at Gorilla Mist Camp, Buhoma Bandas and Mahogany Springs (Full Board)

Day 7: Gorilla Trekking Tour in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

Get breakfast and be escorted to the park offices to begin your adventure. You will get some briefing from a local guide and then set off to the forest equipped with packed lunch. The time taken is between 1- 8 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. Coming face to face with the mountain gorillas is one of the most electrifying experiences you can ever have. During this gorilla trekking safari in Uganda, you will have a chance to observe and take pictures and you will enjoy them from a close range observing adults feeding, grooming and resting as the youngsters play and move backward and forward in a pleasantly comical demonstration. With time allowing, you may use the evening enjoying guided village walk to nearby communities to observe and familiarise yourselves with the different aspects of Ugandan lives, cultures and lifestyles or else, you will take rest. Overnight stay at Gorilla Mist Camp, Silverback Lodge, Buhoma Bandas and Mahogany Springs (Full Board)

Day 8: Transfer back to Kampala

In the morning after breakfast, start your journey to Kampala. Lunch enroute, after lunch, proceed with journey to Kampala but stop at the Uganda Equator, this is where there an imaginary line the divides planet earth into two sections (North and South Hemisphere). Take photos at the equator and visit the craft and souvenir shop at this site, spending about 40 minutes and then proceed to Kampala and arrive in the afternoon and the driver will transfer you to your accommodation in Kampala or Entebbe.

Day 9: Entebbe Airport Transfer 

You will be dropped at the airport for your flight. End of the trip
