Gorilla Families for Gorilla Habituation Experience in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
There are two gorilla families in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park reserved by Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) for gorilla habituation experience. Bikyingi family and Bushaho gorilla family are the only gorilla groups set aside for gorilla habituation experience. These gorilla groups are found in the south of Bwindi forest, with one families located in Rushaga and another one in Nkuringo Sector of the vast gorilla park. At present, Bwindi National Park has 19 gorilla families available for gorilla trekking where its fellow park, the Mgahinga Gorilla National Park boasts of only family, the Nyakagezi group.
Gorilla habituation experience is a tourism term where tourists visit habituated mountain gorillas in the wild and spend 4 hours with them as they observe and learn about their conduct, traits and characters.
