Day 1: Arrive in Kigali
On arrival at Kigali airport, you will be welcomed by our company guide representative and will drop you off at Kigali’s luxury Serena Hotel or at the Flame Tree Village, Garr hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Transfer to Akagera National park and evening Game Drive.
At sunrise, you will set off on a scenic transfer to Akagera national park, arriving early enough for lunch at Akagera game Lodge. After lunch, you will go for a game drive safari in the park. Expect to see giraffes, birds and crocodiles. Overnight stay and dinner at Rusizi Tented Camp –Luxury or Akagera game Lodge – Deluxe.
Day 3: Game drive at dawn and a Boat cruise in the afternoon.
In the morning, you will enjoy a game drive up to the upper part of the park to hook up with early risers prior to their going into hiding. You may have a chance to spot lions, antelopes, bush bucks and giraffes plus many more. Late morning, return to the hotel for a rest by and then lunch. After lunch, go for an afternoon boat voyage on Lake Ihema, where you will be pleased with animals like hippos, crocodiles and a variety of bird species. Dinner and overnight at Rusizi Tented Camp – luxury or Akagera game Lodge –deluxe.
Day 4: Transfer from Akagera to Kigali, sleep overnight.
From Akagera National Park, transfer back to Kigali where you stay for one night before proceeding to Nyungwe Forest on the next day.
Day 5: Drive to Nyungwe National park.
In the morning, you will transfer to Nyungwe National Park where you arrive in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight stay at Nyungwe forest Lodge, Nyungwe Top View Lodge or Gisakura hotel.
Day 6: Chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe Forest
In the morning, you will leave for Nyungwe forest to track chimpanzees. Later return to the lodge of another night at Nyungwe forest Lodge, Nyungwe Top View Lodge or Gisakura hotel.
Day 7: Canopy walk, transfer to Lake Kivu.
In the morning go for the stunning canopy walk in the forest. After the walk, have lunch at the lodge and drive to Volcanoes National Park. Reach at the Volcanoes national park in the twilight hours. Dinner and overnight at Paradise Marahide, Stipp Hotel or Lake Kivu Serena Hotel.
Day 8: Boat cruise and transfer Volcanoes National Park.
At the sun-up, you will do a boat cruise along up to the coffee island and get a view of the neighbouring islands. On return from the water, leave for Volcanoes National Park. Overnight at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge, La Palme Hotel or Muhabura Hotel.
Day 9: Gorilla Tracking Safari in Rwanda.
At dawn, you will move for a gorilla tracking briefing at the park head office. The gorilla trekking expedition may last between from 2-8 hours basing on the group you are apportioned to trek plus the movement of the gorillas the previous night or day. Stay around the gorillas for maximum of one hour before departing the woodland back to the lodge. In the late afternoon, you could go for a nature walk or cultural walk to Ib’iwachu Cultural village. Overnight stay and dinner at Mountain Gorilla View lodge, La Palme hotel or Muhabura hotel.
Day 10: Do either Golden Monkey Tracking or Dian Fossey Hike to her Grave-site.
On a day like this, you will decide either to do golden monkey tracking or climb to the Dian Fossey grave site at Karisoke Research Centre, where Dian Fossey, an American gorilla conservationist took years studying and safeguarding the gorillas prior to her brutal murder in 1985 and was buried next to Digit, the late silver back gorilla. On return from any of the activities, have lunch followed by a transfer to Kigali City. The guide will drop you off at the hotel or to the airport for your departure flight if it is on the program.
